457 Visa
The subclass 457 visa is the ideal route to take if you are a skilled worker wanting to live and work in Australia and an Australian employer cannot find the skills within Australia to fill the position in their company. It gives temporary residence for up to 4 years, and can be used to transition to a permanent Australian resident visa. Subclass 457 visa holders can:
✓ Work in Australia for up to 4 years;
✓ Bring any eligible dependants with them to Australia — dependants can work & study;
✓ After entering Australia, they have no limit on the number of times they can travel in & out of Australia.There are three stages in sponsoring an employee from overseas under the 457 visa program:
✓ Sponsorship: The employer applies for approval as a standard business sponsor. This is required to nominate an occupation for a 457 visa;
✓ Nomination: The employer nominates an occupation for a prospective or existing 457 visa holder;
✓ Visa Application: The person nominated to work in the nominated occupation applies for the visa.
This is the final step to obtaining a 457 visa.
The exciting thing about a 457 visa is that you may be able to transition from 457 to PR (permanent residency) by visa subclasses 186 and 187.
