Skilled Regional Sponsored 887 Visa

887 Visa

Visa Subclass 887 is the transition method to a permanent visa from the temporary subclass 489 visa which is a regional sponsored visa where applicants can be sponsored either by a State or Territory or by an eligible relative who resides in a designated regional area.

The 489 visa is valid for a period of 4 years, during which time the holder must live and work in the designated regional area.

It is possible to transition from a temporary 489 visa to a permanent visa by applying for a subclass 887 visa. This will be possible providing the visa holder has worked and lived within the designated area for at least 2 years before applying.
